TROPIQUE DU KEPONE

Creation 2024

After Les fabriques de Tropique du képone, a time of artistic exploration of the imaginary body and the plastic arts, Myriam Soulanges-Back Art Diffusion and Marlène Myrtil Compagnie Kaméléonite, conceptualize their encounter around this research areas with ecological resonances: the use of pesticides and soil pollution in the West Indies.

For these two artists, choosing to base their work on this recurring theme is a form of resistance and struggle, and undeniably a political act.

Tropique du Képone is an Afrofuturist performance art piece. In it, there is a  focus on the urgency to act and on the need to disregard governmental policies. It is about building a victorious future which will bring trust and healing to our past and present struggles.

Bearing a strong  and rebellious imagination, the two artists perform in a space of reciprocity, fade,  resistance, reconstruction and resilience in  the center of a set designed by shades of blue.

Blue Kepone... Or barbaric blue in the midst of victorious uprisings nourished by the archive, the story and the speech.

Aside from an ecological reflection, this choreographic fiction highlights fragmented, distended and persistent body movements  which reveal a heroic mutation.
