TROPIQUE DU KEPONE
Creation 2023 - research in progress
In Martinique and on the Caribbean archipelago, the seas began to change color in 2011: Océan Brun.
This could be the foreword to a documentary series on the small screen, no it's real, regular, devastating, unbearable, sometimes suffocating...
The meeting between Florence Ménez, an anthropologist who won a grant from the Fondation de France to develop her project SaRiMed - Health Issues in the SARgasses for local residents and MEDIation MEDicale, and the choreographer Marlène Myrtil, whose work explores the question of the environment enabled a first art and science approach to this issue in 2021.
This is how the choreographic installation project Océan Brun is articulated... Based on the sensitive journey of people living or working near the coast of Martinique, Marie -Galante, more exactly closer, always closer, places, spaces invaded by sargassum. After a time of investigations, encounters and research, the setting in temporal space will take place around a writing alternately spread out, suspended, chiseled, lightning, like the violence of this recurring and invasive phenomenon.
But here, it is a dedicated space thickened by light, image and vocal resonance which will welcome these witness bodies...
