IMPÉRISSABLE - TRAJECTOIRES MARINES

Mylène Wagram and Marlène Myrtil re-explore the imperishable nature of humanity through text and dance.

"Choose a writing, a movement, a word, a gesture… It is possible that these signs characterize our history, symbolize our humanity, adjust our identity… Observe what remains of it… A substance that resonates… a choreographic and visceral word."

Marlene Myrtil

A few years ago, I was surprised by a book that went through my research : Humus by Fabienne Kanor. Humus is a historic “slip attempt”, inspired by a few lines written by the Nantes captain of a slave ship in his logbook. The author alternates, with a sailor's song, the voices of eleven African captives confronted with trafficking.

This is how the intention of a choreographic staging was born. Imperishable, was first created in 2009 as a dance conference inhabited by portraits of women with a thousand facets and temperaments from Africa. This show paid a vibrant and dancing tribute to the heroic act of 11 women trying to escape from the Sun boat.

In 2015, a first exchange with Mylène Wagram opened up the prospect of re-creating Imperishable . Marine trajectories decompartmentalize the room, the portraits of women summon the history of peoples, re-update our existential questions. Imperishable - Marine Trajectories connects us in this feeling of exhaustion necessary for the nobility of survival.
